Well stated. I for one am tired of being reminded that Noam Chomsky and Naturei Karta exist, ergo Zionism is evil.

Zionism would be evil even if Noam Chomsky and the Neturei Karta did NOT exist. It would be evil even if there wasn’t a SINGLE anti-Zionist Jew. It makes absolutely no difference whatsoever.

I’m not sure that all of them would qualify as narcissists but I loved your article and get your point. After spending time observing the encampment at University of Toronto, that was populated by pro Hamas crowd and Jews Say no to Genocide, it was clear that moral superiority was more evident than self hatred. Sadly, many of the students have been indoctrinated into antisemitism, and were benefitting from the tremendous sense of community and moral superiority.

The distinction between self hating and self deluding is quite interesting. Is there a recognition on their part that their willingness/desire to be included, to be part of something they are excluded from, is steeped in a never ending discomfort with themselves, with who they really are? Or is this delusion symptomatic of their overall lack of self reflectivity? Beyond the lack of nuanced historical knowledge itself.

I think the delusion is part of narcissism which relates back to their complete lack of self-awareness.

Excellent piece. How ironic that the self-tokenizing, anti-Zionist Jews are the actual supremacists. It’s disheartening that even among the “J Street” camp, et al, there is a need to qualify their identity with misplaced morality. I’m Jewish but… Overemphasis on Tikkun Olam growing up? There are times I wish that the phrase “light unto the nations” had never been uttered.

Jewish stalinists looking for a new utopia which includes annihilating Israel and killing all the Jews but you know, they are idealists.

“But lest we should justify the taunts of our opponents, lest we should become "tribal" and narrow and Judaic rather than humane and cosmopolitan like the anti-Semites of Germany and Jew-baiters of Russia, we ignore and repudiate our unhappy brethren as having no part or share in their misfortunes- until the cup of anguish is held also to our own lips.”

I always knew If Not Now had an incredibly selective reading of Rabbi Hillel. I should have realized that also extended to Emma Lazarus.
